Project Light

Hello everyone, my name is António Tomé and I’m a third-year student at the Fine Art College of Lisbon University. Together with my IST colleagues, António Pacheco, Tomás Santos, Francisco Barata and José Matos we’re making a puzzle game about a little photosynthetic alien that must fix its spaceship to escape Earth before night comes.  For now, the game name is Project Light and the gameplay consists on the little alien moving mirrors and other objects so that a light beam can travel with it and open paths by hitting buttons so that the alien can survive.

Since the project started, I have reunited with my group so that we could discuss some doubts we had for the game and after that I began working on the visuals for the game.

Hi there! Our work is progressing smoothly, so this past days I began animating the little alien walk cycle as well as creating the prism that is fundamental in some levels. I am also working on some of the backgrounds and other objects.

Hi! I’m still doing animation work and building the sets/backgrounds for our game and so far everything is going according to plan.

Hello everyone! This week my group reunited online so that we could discuss the things that needed to be done before the MOJO presentation. So, after that my colleagues changed the name of the game to Chlor[OS] to reflect the plant side of the alien.  And I made the logo for our game and the menu and buttons designs. I also made a dead alien for decoration since some people in my group really wanted one. I also finished the walking cycle in all four directions and began working on a "promotional" banner for our game. Thank you!

MOJO was a nice experience to see and try the games that my colleagues built, unfortunately I couldn’t show my work because we ran into problems with the code of our game.

Overall, I liked the experience this partnership provided, it felt good knowing that my work was going to have a purpose. I would have liked the outcome had been different, but these things happen sometimes.

2nd June 2017

Hello everyone, since the last post, many things happened, I made the backgrounds for our three levels, I finished the painting for our poster and created the sprites for the mirrors, another essential object for our gameplay.
